My War With Chronic Fatigue Syndrome – Part 1
Most people call it Chronic Fatigue Syndrome – CFS. Others call it Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) … or … Post-Viral Fatigue Syndrome (PVFS). I happen to like Post-Viral Fatigue Syndrome (PVFS) because, in my case, it started right after I got a flu virus!
I also do not like the word “Chronic!” Chronic Fatigue Syndrome – CFS, sounds like it is something I can do nothing about (Chronic) so why should I bother? But my current concept that Dis-Ease is caused by either lack of Nutrimins, or an overload of Picotoxin (Picotoxemia), or more likely both, precludes the “bad bug” or “germ” concepts most doctors are taught in Big Pharmacy controlled medical schools.
I believe I can beat Post-Viral Fatigue Syndrome (PVFS or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome – CFS). I believe CFS is caused by Picotoxemia, perhaps caused by an infection of some kind. So… While I am still tired, still suffering, still fighting this war (I call it a war because I do not want to be like this! Not because I am fighting some invader! Darth Vader?). So here is what happened in the last year…
Christmas Flu – 2010
My war with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome started just after Christmas 2010. One of my sons came down with a flu symptoms. It quickly spread to the other children. Then to mama and finally papa (that is me) got it also. It seemed no one was spared, not even our family dog, Chester.
My Dental Plan of Action
Yesterday I posted my Chronic Fatigue Syndrome – My Plan of Action. I had posted this before going to a new dentist. Because today I feel about 20-25% better I decided to recap what has happen so far.
Some Boring Dental History
About a year ago (June-August 2010) I went to my regular dentist. Earlier that year she had put two crowns on teeth in my lower left jaw (sadly she had not removed the mercury fillings – more technically called amalgam and sometimes wrongly called “silver fillings”). She put a couple normal composite fillings in the #2 molar on my upper right at that time. Right away this became a problem with my bite. The filling was banging into the lower tooth. So she adjusted it… And went happily on my way… At that time there was no obvious problems.
Some Boring Medical History
Let me back up further, September 2006, I was bedridden most of that year. By any account, I was dying. Even my doctors had advised me to set my affairs in order. I had, by all accounts, reached the end of my life. I was 52 years old and 528 pounds. That was when I found out I was conceived with Celiac Disease (Coeliac Disease – CD). This is an autoimmune Dis-Ease. Just like the JIA I had as a child is another autoimmune Dis-Ease. (Ed. JIA – Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis is also called JRA – Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis and JCA – Juvenile Chronic Arthritis.)
In my quest to avoid gluten in a country where label laws are largely ignored, I had embarked, quite by accident or by divine guidance (depending on your point of view) on a life of eating only ripe fruit and uncooked vegetables. It was based mainly (but not entirely) on two verses of the Bible found in Genesis 1:29-30 that virtually every major religion in the world accepts on some level. Within two months all the symptoms of Gout, Heart Disease, Angina, Diabetes, Kidney Stones, Gall Stones, High Blood Pressure, and the headaches cause by an Inoperable Brain Aneurysm were gone.
I had suffered with dizziness, blurred vision, teeth that hurt so badly that I’d cry half the night. These were also either gone or greatly improved. Additional symptoms of diagnosed Chronic Gastrointestinal Inflammation (GI) including IBD (Irritable Bowel Disease), IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome or Spastic Colon), Leaky Gut Syndrome (Increased Intestinal Permeability) and month long bouts with Chronic Constipation were all greatly improved. Doctors had suggested or suspected a diagnoses of either Ulcerative Colitis (UC) or early Crohn’s Disease (CD), but these symptoms had likewise disappeared.
I soon noticed great improvements with tests for Cardio Vascular Diseases, an Enlarged Heart (Echocardiogram or Cardiac Ultrasound), Cholesterol, and Triglycerides. All other medical test had completely returned to the normal ranges for humans!
I felt human again!
Over the next four years I have become symptom and medication free in a number of areas I was previously diagnosed and taking medication for…
I used to suffer regular bouts of Reactive Arthritis in my feet (Reiter’s Syndrome or Reiter’s Arthritis, also known as Arthritis Urethritica, Venereal Arthritis and Polyarteritis Enterica). My doctors believed this was caused by things I ate up to 3 weeks prior to the outbreak. This stopped.
Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) in my hands and right shoulder became unnoticed and symptom free.
Likewise I would regularly get a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI). These were usually Cystitis (Bladder Infection)but sometimes Pyelonephritis (Kidney Infection). And virtually always accompanied by a painful Urethritis (painful or difficult urination or Dysuria). Likewise this stopped.
Psoriasis on my toe nails (Psoriatic Nail Dystrophy), elbows and genitals, as well as Enthesitis at the heel, particularly the Achilles tendon, also vanished.
Eczema was also a problem. Dermatitis Herpetiformis (DH also known as Duhring’s Disease) on my arms, thighs, knees. Dyshidrosis (aka Dyshidrotic Eczema, Pompholyx, Vesicular Palmoplantar Dermatitis, Housewife’s Eczema) on my hands and worse in the summer. Discoid Eczema (aka Nummular Eczema, Exudative Eczema, Microbial Eczema) on my lower legs. Venous Eczema (aka Gravitational Eczema, Stasis Dermatitis, Varicose Eczema) on my lower legs resulting in Leg Ulcers (Venous Ulcers, Stasis Ulcer or Varicose Ulcers). These Leg Ulcers would sometime result in serious cases of Cellulitis (even black stage) and would require a hospital stay of 7-10 days and treatment of a few months (on one occasion amputation of one or both legs was discussed but I decided I would rather die).
Back Pain (also known as Dorsalgia) has partially resolved with the VeGenesis Lifestyle. Especially the Neck Pain (or Cervicalgia). I still have mild Upper Back Pain (also called Middle Back Pain or Thoracic Pain). And moderate Low Back Pain (or Lumbago, Lumbar Back Ache). I believe additional aspects of the New LipHe Lifestyle will address these within it Nutrimins.
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Having recovered from or reversed almost all of the above Dis-Ease, it was a tremendous blow to suddenly be tired. So tired I did not want to get out of bed. So tired I stopped doing my New LipHe program for exercise. So tired I just didn’t care about much of anything.
At first I thought I just needed more time to recover. But I noticed I was slipping deeper into the darkness. The lymph nodes were swollen in my neck – I could feel them when I swallowed. I finally went to the doctor. He reported it was not much and some antibiotics should clear it up in a hurry… Seven days, turned to Ten day and then to 14 days. The antibiotics helped, reducing the size of the Lymph Nodes, but not totally eliminating the swelling. And when the antibiotics were stopped, the swelling returned as before (or maybe a little worse).
The feeling of being tired was the worse. I was trying to start this website, but was so fatigued I did not even want to turn on my computer! My doctor suspected it may be an infection in my gums or teeth so off to the dentist! After a complete cleaning, nothing seemed wrong. But a closer inspection revealed on of the crowns was “leaking”. Not really infected, but leaking. A painful few days to replace the crown and one pain was gone. But still I was so tired…
I returned to my medical doctor and again nothing was discovered. A couple weeks more of another antibiotic had the same effect as the first round… in other words, no lasting benefit. I had noticed when I first started taking the antibiotic I felt a little pain in one tooth, the #2 Molar in the back right side.
By May 1, 2011, five months of this fatigue had destroyed all exercise, I was gaining weight and not even following my eating plan. I could not work. All I could think of was that one tooth hurt a little one day. At the advice of my medical surgeon I went to the dentist to have that tooth x-rayed to see if it may have a dead / infected root. It did not, the dentist took the x-ray and the tooth was a normal, healthy tooth.
Looking at my panoramic x-ray from a month before, she told me the only “dead tooth” I had was a front tooth with a root canal in it. Perfectly good! I was in shock. The five teeth I had with root canals had all cracked and fallen out. This one had a steel jacket or crown on it holding it together.
Two more months pasted… My doctor is friendly toward alternate treatments. He had suggested chlorophyll, as it helps carry O2 (oxygen) in the blood. But nothing was working…
The Root Canal Cover-Up
In the mean time I was also looking up Root Canals. I found out the three or four doctors I respect the most do not think root canals are good for the body… AND … Root Canals should not only be removed, but removed in a way to get rid of infection in the bone also!
I sent an email to my dentist outlining how I wanted that tooth removed and the tooth socket cleaned. My dentist said she did not think she was qualified to do that… fair enough, time to find a new dentist!
I turned to the Internet. I thought I wanted a Biological dentist. I located…
- The International Academy of Biological Dentistry and Medicine, or IABDM
http://www.iabdm.org/ - Holistic Dental Association
http://www.holisticdental.org/ - The International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology, or IAOMT
http://www.iaomt.org/
Only the first one, IABDM, had listed dentists in the Philippines, both in Luzon (hundreds of miles away). I decided this would be my “Plan B” if I could not find something in Cebu.
TMJ Syndrome ???
I contacted a Biological Homopathic medical group in Cebu and they recommended me to a dental surgeon. That dentist was an expert on Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJD or TMD, or TMJ Syndrome). Ran a bunch of tests and x-rays for TMJ disorder. I went to the Internet to find out what this was and truthfully, I did not think this was the problem, at least not the main problem. I waited and waited and waited… At 3 weeks of waiting, I decided to collect all my tests and move on.
Plan of Action
This is the point, yesterday (August 31, 2011) that I wrote … Chronic Fatigue Syndrome – My Plan of Action
Part of that new plan was because I found…
